Abstract - The training of the elderly is at present strongly influenced by the com- petence acquisition model that currently prevails in pedagogical culture. The author of this article examines and illustrates this model in its original form and its current direction. She then addresses the question of whether it is appropriate to retain this model for training elderly people.
